A New Power System Restoration Technique based on WAMS Partitioning
Journal Title: Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research - Year 2017, Vol 7, Issue 4
Abstract
An important feature of a Wide-Area Measurement System (WAMS) is the ability to recover data during a communication failure. This paper presents a novel scheme of partitioning a PMU installed power network into a number of WAMS regions in order to make the power system restoration process simpler. This algorithm also proposes the optimal placement of Phasor Data Concentrators (PDCs) in each region to record the data from PMUs. This paper considers the restoration constraints like transformer equivalent bus, generation-load balance and the observability of region for the partitioning of power system. The proposed scheme is demonstrated with an IEEE-30 bus system. It is then applied on IEEE-39, IEEE-118 bus systems and on a Northern Regional Grid of the Indian Power Grid.

Photovoltaic Systems and Net Metering in Greece
The latest measure for the development of photovoltaics in Greece utilizes the net-metering scheme. Under this scheme the energy produced by a PV system may be either consumed by the local loads or be injected to the gri...
Analysis of D2D Communication System Over κ-μ Shadowed Fading Channel
Outage performance of a device-to-device (D2D) communication system in the presence of co-channel interference (CCI) is analyzed in this paper. Channels for the D2D and CCI signals are assumed to be κ-μ shadowed faded. M...
Modeling and Control of a DFIG-Based Wind Turbine During a Grid Voltage Drop
Doubly-fed induction generators (DFIG) are widely used in wind energy generation systems. During a grid voltage drop, performance is degraded with rotor over current deteriorating the fault-ride through (FRT) capability...
Random Valued Impulse Noise Removal Using Region Based Detection Approach
Removal of random valued noisy pixel is extremely challenging when the noise density is above 50%. The existing filters are generally not capable of eliminating such noise when density is above 70%. In this paper a regio...
A Hands-Free Obstacle Detection and Avoidance System
In this paper, we present a low cost hands-free detection and avoidance system designed to provide mobility assistance for visually impaired people. An ultrasonic sensor is attached to the jacket of the user and detects...
