A NEW SCALE: THE VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF INVENTORY OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDERS FOR ADOLESCENTS

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to present of psychometric data obtained from develop an inventory that used in screening of psychological disorders in adolescences that base Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Fifth Edition (DSM-5). Studies of validity and reliability of Inventory of Psychological Disorders for Adolescents (PDIA) have been conducted by using a sample of 1953 students from 7 to 12 grades. 920 (47.1%) of the participants were boys and 1033 (52.9%) were girls. Cronbach's alpha values in the analyzes of subscales of PDIA were found between .69-.91. Test-retest reliability was also examined in 64 participants and correlation coefficient values for test-retest reliability were between 54-.86. Furthermore, convergent validity was tested with 5 different scales and PDIA in pairs or triple sets using 674 individuals from sample. The Pearson correlation values varied between .27 and 75. As PDIA is an inventory with profile index such as MMPI, each subscale was subjected to confirmatory factor analysis in accordance with Varimax rotation in itself. These findings also demonstrated strong psychometric evidence. As a conclusion, the PDIA could accepted to be a valid and reliable inventory.
