A Novel Approach to Clustering of Proteins

Journal Title: International Journal on Computer Science and Engineering - Year 2011, Vol 3, Issue 3

Abstract

Data Analysis plays an indispensable role for understanding various phenomena. Clustering algorithms are a class of important tools for data analysis. K-means cluster analysis is considered to cluster protein variates across 3 species using SPSS 16.0. In this Paper we describe an approach to kmeans cluster analysis which grouped the sample data of the three species under study into four apriori groups showed that the three groups are different from one another as evident from marginal inter group differences in the mean values of the clusters as well as the number of cases in each cluster. The analysis also shows that there are sharp intra group differences as reflected in the disproportionate number of cases in each cluster.
