A NUMERICAL MODEL OF HYDROGEOLOGICAL REGIME AS A VERIFICATION MEASURE OF PROJECT ASSUMPTIONS

Abstract

A hotel building will be one of the objects of a recreation complex in Osieck Commune, currently being under construction. It will be located on a slope of the Pleistocene plateau at the boundary with an over-flood terrace with dunes in the Vistula valley. The foundations of the building located in a small erosion valley, will be situated deep in ice-marginal formations. Such location of the object implies the necessity of a proper drainage system to be installed. It would drain both surface and percolation water that occurs in sandy and silty layers of ice-marginal formations. To determine the requirements of the investment’s draining system, a numerical model of the zone was designed. The Visual MODFLOW software was utilised for its construction. Modelling results were used to verify the project assumptions and to construct a temporary and permanent drainage system. The numerical model was used in order to determine the influence of the investment on the hydrogeological conditions of the zone, located in the Masovian Landscape Park.
