A practical implementation of machine learning in predicting breast cancer
Journal Title: SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY - Year 2021, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
Cancer is the leading disease in the world by the increasing number of new patients and deaths every year. Hence, it is the most feared disease of our time. It is believed that lung cancer and breast cancer are most common types of cancer and they both are subtypes of the same group of cancer – carcinoma. With this type of cancer early detection is of great importance for patient survival. As it is the disease that has unfortunately been around for many years, today we have datasets with all necessary information for diagnosing and predicting cancer. Predicting cancer means deciding if the cancer is malignant or benign. The key to this answer lays in different values of parameters that have been stored when the disease was discovered. Machine learning plays the crucial role in predicting cancer, given the fact that algorithms such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF) and etc. are designed to find the pattern that occurs in large sets of data and based on that make a decision. In this paper, author's goal is to see how machine learning and its practical implementation on public datasets can help with early breast cancer diagnosis and hopefully help save more lives.

Impact of Road Pavement Condition on Vehicular Free Flow Speed, Vibration and In-Vehicle Noise
Road infrastructure in good condition is a key requirement for efficient transportation systems which leads to economic prosperity and improved quality of life. However, road surface conditions deteriorate over time acco...
Guidelines for transformation of trams to the light rail system in Sarajevo
The transport of the tram system on a high capacity corridor in a narrow urban area with increasing demand has become limiting both in terms of capacity and in terms of quality improvement. In this sense, the tram system...
Investigating the Influence of Chemical Reaction on MHD-Casson Nanofluid Flow via a Porous Stretching Sheet with Suction/Injection
This study aims to investigate the influence of chemical reaction on the flow characteristics of a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Casson nanofluid over a porous stretching sheet with suction/injection. The nanofluid (NF) is c...
Electro-Osmotic Flow of MHD Jeffrey Fluid in a Rotating Microchannel by Peristalsis: Thermal Analysis
In this study, we examine the rotating and heat transfer on the peristaltic and electro-osmatic flow of a Jeffery fluid in an asymmetric microchannel with slip impact. A pressure gradient and anal axially imposed electri...
