A RARE CASE OF FATAL ARACHNOID CYST OF CEREBELLO-PONTINE ANGLE

Abstract

A 29-year-old apparently healthy adult male collapsed following a heavy meal and was taken to a teaching hospital in half an hour and was declared dead on arrival. There was no history of hypertension or diabetes mellitus or any other illness or injury. The investigating officer requested an autopsy examination. The deceased was well built and well nourished. There were no significant external findings. Internal examination revealed soft yellowish and cystic mass of size 3.5x2. 5x2 cm at the cerebello-pontine angle (figure 1 & 2), which was compressing the brain stem.
