A RARE PATHOLOGY IN THE FEMORAL HERNIA SAC: ISOLATED TUBA UTERINA

Journal Title: Çukurova Anestezi ve Cerrahi Bilimler Dergisi - Year 2019, Vol 2, Issue 1

Abstract

The femoral hernia is a hernia sourced from the femoral canal beneath the inguinal ligament. Femoral hernias constitute 2-3% of all hernia types. It is four to five times more common in women than men and has the highest incidence between 30 and 60 years of age. A 45-yearold female patient presented to the general surgery outpatient clinic with complaints of swelling in her left groin that started 2 months ago. Ultrasonography showed a tubular structure in the herniated sac in the left inguinal region. She was operated on with the initial diagnosis of femoral hernia. Isolated tuba uterina was found in the femoral hernia sac during exploration. Ischemic changes were not observed. It was reduced into the abdomen. Femoral hernia was repaired with Lichtenstein's technique by placing a Plug Mesh. We think that it is important to consider the herniation of genital organs for the management of femoral hernias in women. To prevent peroperative complications, surgeons should keep in mind the other organs in the hernia area, such as the urogenital organs
