A Rare Presentation of Soft Tissue Sarcoma
Journal Title: IOSR Journal of Dental and Medical Sciences (IOSR-JDMS) - Year 2017, Vol 16, Issue 9
Abstract
Soft tissue sarcoma are one of the most common malignancy with high incidence of lung metastasis which occur in about 80% of patient within 2 years duration. Though brain metastasis is a relatively a rare event in the natural history of soft tissue sarcomas it occurs in about 7% of the patient with soft tissue sarcoma. A direct metastasis to brain without lung metastasis s very rare and only few cases have been reported. The increasing use of chemotherapy may have caused a reduction in local relapses as well as distant failures leading to an improvement in survival, thereby allowing metachronous seeding of the brain, a sanctuary site. The purpose of this report is to increase awareness amongst clinicians regarding such a possibility.
