A Ready Reckoner of CFD for Wrap-around Fins
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2019, Vol 11, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper aims to review computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of wraparound fins (WAF). An effort in the search of a benchmark computational fluid dynamics model for future studies has been made in this paper. Iterative studies have been carried out in the past to study the cause and effect of the anomalies in the aerodynamics of WAF missiles. The simulations that have been carried out consist of different geometries and different conditions, each providing us a new set of data, results and complexities. The results of the computations, their setups and the nuances of the simulations have been presented in this paper. This paper aids in validation of new CFD simulations with the previous CFD studies and their Experimental counterparts. Benchmarking of geometries, domain setup, grid generation, etc. will help to obtain a higher quality of the WAF aerodynamics visualization in the future.

Determining the sensitivity of Data Envelopment Analysis method used in airport benchmarking
In the last decade there were some important changes in the airport industry, caused by the liberalization of the air transportation market. Until recently airports were considered infrastructure elements, and they were...
Lamb Waves Tunning On Aluminium Plates for Structure Health Monitoring
The method for defects detection inside the mechanical structures, namely aerospace structures, using the Lamb waves is widespread because of its benefits: it is nondestructive, may reveal the presence and size of defect...
Study on aerodynamic resistance to electric rail vehicles generated by the power supply
Improving the traction performance of the electric railway vehicles requires an analysis to reduce their aerodynamic resistance. These vehicles cannot be set in motion without an external power source, which demonstrates...
Investigation of novel propulsion systems – the exoskeletal engine concept. Part I
The exoskeletal engine represents a relatively new concept in the world of propulsion systems. It is a drum-rotor engine concept in which conventionally heavy shafts and discs are eliminated and replaced by rotating casi...
Bezier-curve Navigation Guidance for Impact Time and Angle Control
This paper addresses a novel impact time and angle control guidance law using a Bézier curve. The 2nd order Bézier curve consists of one control point and two boundary points; initial point P0, middle point P1 and end po...
