A Review of International, Continental, Regional and Domestic Legislations on Gender Equality in Zimbabwe

Journal Title: Studies in Social Sciences and Humanities - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 2

Abstract

This research looks at some of the most important international, continental, regional and domestic legislations which are at the heart of gender equality in Zimbabwe. It appreciates the efforts that have been made by the Government of Zimbabwe through the enactment of a New Constitution in 2013.Desk research was used to review the various legislations. The research concludes by indicating that the Government of Zimbabwe must design, implement and monitor gender sensitive policies and programmes at all levels to foster the empowerment and advancement of women. However, this requires the full participation of women for these legislations to be effective, efficient and mutually reinforcing.
