A REVIEW ON HEAVY METALS CONTENTS IN HIDE, SKIN AND PROCESSED LEATHERS
Journal Title: Annals of the University of Oradea. Fascicle of Textiles, Leatherwork - Year 2016, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
Heavy metals are metals with high atomic weight which can be deposited in soil, water, plants and animals. It is generally known that mammal tissues are good bioindicators of trace elements, including heavy metals. Heavy metal analysis serves to identify and quantify the elements that are a potential hazard to the consumer after varying levels of contact. Usage area of leather is increasingly expanding in these days and it has also become a material requested and demanded by effect of fashion. Leather must protect its appearance and physical stability and also be problem-free in ecological terms and harmless to human health. There is a lack of data concerning the content of toxic elements in raw hide and skin of animals. Mainly information concerning metals content, including toxic ones, in processed leathers may be found in the literature. The aim of the present study was to review and compare the content of some heavy metals in raw hide, skin and the processed leathers in order to evaluate their accumulation and transition to the end-up product.

AUTOMATIC CHARACTERIZATION OF NEEDLEPUNCHED FELTS BY CONTENT BASED IMAGE RETRIEVAL - CBIR
The needled felts whose fibrous bats had been gotten by the classic carding process give us fabrics in which staple fibres follow a marked preferential direction of the machine workflow. This direction is named, as machi...
