A REVIEW ON MANAGEMENT OF OBESITY: PHARMACOLOGICAL VERSUS NON-PHARMACOLOGICAL APPROACH

Abstract

When usual practice fails, people search for the new strategic management of obesity. Still the obesity is rarely cured, available treatment is only effective if they are continued in use. On stopping drug use, again the obesity progress in its way, that’s the challenge for proper insight management of obesity. Despite of enormous efforts in finding solution, it has reached in an epidemic in most of the country. Which makes scientist to think more to the other side to manage it on non-pharmacological way. Usually low energy diet with high fiber content are effective in obesity management. Today’s many finding proves that fruits and vegetables having anti-inflammatory Phytochemical can counteract body over fat. Exercises, balanced daily habits (sleeping, eating, proper stress management, work, etc.) and mostly yogic practice like Kapalvati, Asana, Pranayama, Suryanamaskar and Meditation, have great hope for the proper management of obesity. In many pharmacological management cases combined therapy is more effective rather than the monotherapy. To be an effective drug candidate it must have significant impact on reducing body weight, for this it must reduce energy food intake and increase the expenditure of energy or the both.
