A Socio-cultural and Local Approach to the Problem of Exclusion

Abstract
The article is an attempt to illustrate a sociological, cultural and local approach to the problem of exclusion in its application to the city of Szczecin. Exclusion involves individuals who find themselves in such a situation through their own fault or as a result of third-party actions. Every day, we meet people who cannot cope with various difficulties of life and fall into the state of social disability. The theoretical part of the article refers to the terminology and literature in the context of the present reality. This perspective is reflected by the reality of everyday life in Szczecin and opinions expressed by university students, with extensive fragments presented in the empirical part. The article ends with an overview of practical methods of providing help by agencies responsible for public security and activities of other institutions that deal with these matters.
