A STUDY OF EFFICACY OF MULTIPLE COMBINATION OF TOPICAL ANTI – GLAUCOMA DRUGS IN PRIMARY OPEN ANGLE GLAUCOMA

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Primary open angle glaucoma is a chronic progressive multifactorial optic neuropathy with a raised intra ocular pressure, acquired loss of optic nerve fibres and visual field defects which develops in the presence of open anterior chamber angles. Various types of anti-glaucoma drugs are available commercially and an Ophthalmologist can prefer proper anti-glaucoma drugs for a better visual outcome. AIM The aim of the study is to compare the efficacy of fixed combinations of various topical anti-glaucoma drugs. MATERIALS &METHODS This is a prospective study of 30 patients, conducted in the department of ophthalmology, Government General Hospital, Kakinada over period of 2 years. RESULTS The observations from the study were analyzed and compared with the existing studies in the literature. Mean age group of the patients belong to the adults between 40-89 years, males affected more than females. CONCLUSION It was observed that the combination of Latanoprost 0.005%+Timolol 0.05% topical drops is more effective than other combinations.
