Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 8
Abstract
The present study aimed to delve into the relationship between organizational virtuousness and Employee Engagement among the employees of Kermanshah-based Keshavarzi Banks (Agribanks), Iran in 2015. In this descriptive, corelational study, 410 employees of Keshavarzi Banks based in Kermanshah were selected as the sample population through headcount. For data collection, the Utrecht Employee Engagement scale (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2002) and the organizational virtuousness questionnaire (Cameron et al., 2004) were used. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics (Frequency, Percentage, Mean, and Standard Deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson Correlation Test and Multiple Regression Analysis). Also, the 21st version of SPSS software was used for data analysis. The results of the Pearson correlation test demonstrated that there were significant positive relationships between Employee Engagement (P<0.001) and the three dimensions of organizational virtuousness, i.e., forgiveness (P<0.001, r=0.173), trust (P<0.001, r=0.132), and compassion (P<0.001, r=0.104). Furthermore, the results of the regression analysis demonstrated that three variables of forgiveness, optimism, and integrity, with the exception of trust and compassion, could significantly predict the changes of Employee Engagement among employees (P<0.001). The results proved the role and significance of the organizational virtuousness in predicting the employees’ Employee Engagement.
