A Survey on Underwater Sensor Network Architecture and Protocols
Journal Title: International Journal of Computer Science & Engineering Technology - Year 2013, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Underwater sensor networks (UWSNs) are becoming popular everyday due to their ability which makes them to be deployed under adverse environmental conditions. UWNs are the enabling technology for wide range of applications like pollution monitoring, nutrient production, oil retrieval and transportation. The use of acoustic communication underwater environment posses many interesting challenges. Because of high transmission power, energy consumption is more, making medium access protocol a primary focus point for reducing energy consumption. However sensed data can be interpreted meaningfully when referenced to the location of the sensor, making localization an important problem. In this paper, we give a survey on the architectural view and protocols used for underwater sensor networks.

A Novel Color Image Segmentation Approach Based On K-Means Clustering with Proper Determination of the Number of Clusters and Suitable Distance Metric
K-Means algorithm is the most commonly chosen technique for color image segmentation task. Although this algorithm is famous for its low complexity and easy implementation, but usually it is seen that the segmentation r...
Spontaneous identification of individual nick name from web
A person is generally called by different names, it is difficult to identify a person from the web, person will be called by different names by different people for example, Michael Jackson is called as MJ and some call...
An Efficient Steganographic Scheme Using Skin Tone Detection and Discrete Wavelet Transformation
Steganography is a technique used for secret communication, in which secret information is embedded into a cover medium. The Secret information may be some text or image or even audio clip and the cover medium may be som...
A Similarity Function with Pruning Strategy for Tree Structured Data
Although several distance or similarity functions for trees have been introduced, their performance is not always satisfactory in different applications. In the base paper the Extended Sub tree (EST) function, where a ne...
Routing and Security in Self Organizing Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET): Challenges and Solutions
Ad hoc networks in general have to deal with a highly decentralized as well as a continuously changing topology due to the mobility of the nodes. MANET is not a new paradigm in wireless community. The technology is quite...
