A Unified Monitoring Framework for Energy Consumption and Network Traffic
Journal Title: EAI Endorsed Transactions on Energy Web - Year 2015, Vol 1, Issue 4
Abstract
Providing experimenters with deep insight about the effects of their experiments is a central feature of testbeds. In this paper, we describe Kwapi, a framework designed in the context of the Grid'5000 testbed, that unifies measurements for both energy consumption and network traffic. Because all measurements are taken at the infrastructure level (using sensors in power and network equipment), using this framework has no dependencies on the experiments themselves. Initially designed for OpenStack infrastructures, the Kwapi framework allows monitoring and reporting of energy consumption of distributed platforms. In this article, we present the extension of Kwapi to network monitoring, and outline how we overcame several challenges: scaling to a testbed the size of Grid'5000 while still providing high-frequency measurements; providing long-term loss-less storage of measurements; handling operational issues when deploying such a tool on a real infrastructure.

Low Energy Clustering in BAN Based on Fuzzy Simulated Evolutionary Computation
A low energy clustering method of body area networks based on fuzzy simulated evolutionary computation is proposed in this paper. To reduce communication energy consumption, we also designed a fuzzy controller to dynamic...
DESIGN OF COMPREHENSIVE FRAMEWORK ON OPTIMIZATION METHODS IN DISTRIBUTED CLUSTERS
MapReduce is a popular, open source programming paradigm to handle big data which is an industry standard large scale data processing system used by many companies like Yahoo, Google, Facebook, etc. The YARN framework us...
An Energy-Efficient Self-Organization Routing Strategy in Tree Networks
This paper proposes a new self-organization and topology dynamic adjustment strategy. Network nodes broadcast packets to select child nodes and non-network nodes collect packets to join in network. During the self-organi...
A Comparative Study of Various Location Prediction and Interpolation Techniques
Natural catastrophe is a common phenomenon by which the living as well as nonliving entities belong to the environment faces the calamity. But the human beings can presume the disaster and take major steps to prevent it....
Algorithms for building distribution networks of electricity supply, reducing losses of electricity
The basis for achieving high quality of electricity are three components: high-quality power generation, uninterrupted transmission and distribution over reliable networks. In conditions of commensurability of the power...
