A WORKER’S ECOLOGICAL NEEDS AS COMPONENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY

Abstract
Purpose. Research and analysis of the concept of “the environmental security” and its components, determination of a role of the worker’s ecological needs in ensuring the production environmental security is the purpose of the article. Methodology. The systemic and prognostic methods of obtaining and processing information are used in paper. Re-sults. The existing definitions of “the environmental security” concept were analyzed in the study, their shortcomings were identified. As a result, the existence of a large number of definitions because of two main factors was established: the level of social well-being of society and the level of its ecological culture. Thus, “the environmental security” con-cept is unsustainable, since its content is related to the current environmental situation in a certain territory and the level of social, cultural and spiritual development of the society living on it. Besides, levels of environmental safety were analyzed. Based on this, it was established that the most effective for ensuring environmental security are actions at the local level, i.e. at the level of enterprises, organizations, farms, humans. The result of this work is an updated definition of “the environmental security” concept. Components of the environmental security were considered. It was proposed to add to this list a new component – the worker’s ecological needs. The content of “the ecological needs” concept was analyzed and it was established that this concept does not have a stabled definition. The systematization of information available on this issue was made, on the basis of which a definition of “the ecological needs” concept was proposed. The place of the ecological needs in the general system of human needs was considered. According to the classification of human needs by origin (or by importance), the ecological needs are primary because they are directly related to hu-man health and determine the quality of his life. It was proposed to use a questionnaire of workplace ecofriendlyness to assess the degree of implementation of the worker’s ecological needs. The questionnaire was tested at the flexo-printing plant. Analysis of the results of the workers poll showed that their ecological needs are partially satisfied or have an unsatisfactory degree of implementation, respectively, there is a need to improve certain characteristics of the work-place. Originality. Taking into account social and cultural features of the society development an updated definition of “the environmental security” concept was presented. For the first time, the concept of “the worker’s ecological needs” was considered, its definition was given and its role in ensuring the production environmental security was indicated. Practical value. A questionnaire was worked out to assess the implementation degree of the worker’s ecological needs at the workplace. The obtained data of a poll of workers can be used to identify problem moments in ensuring the pro-duction environmental security and searching the ways to improve it.
