A Zonal Assessment of Mountainous Region through GIS & RS: A Case Study of Pedabayalu Mandal, Visakhapatnam District, Andhra Pradesh State, India

Abstract

We comprehensively examine on transportation facilities, medical specialties and bridges, and required bridges which directly or indirectly contribute to human activities. In transportation, we classified the root system as zonal-wise, like metaled, unmetalled and paths, and their zonal share in the study area; the mountain region people do not have the proper transportation to achieve their primary needs. The road connectivity is essential for all the activities wherever habitats may not get proper road connectivity, it would not get the benefits from the government, hence we find out the road connectivity in various classes in zonal wise over mountainous regions. To identify the present physiographic features of study area we are using recent technologies like Geographical Information System and Remote Sensing (GIS&RS). We used toposheets at the scale of 1:50,000, before using toposheets as a base map to find out the hamlets and village names moreover to get more information we are using another high-resolution base map which is having one meter, available in Arc GIS 10.4.1 software. We generated the accessibility maps like zonal to another zone road connectivity from zone to Primary Health Center (03) (PHC, Zone to Markets (03). Another major problem of terrain landscape, people are to reach primary health centers when they are suffering from diseases, due to lack of proper roadways to reach from the elevated region to low-lying regions; hence we used the service area analysis to find out the closest and the farthest of zones. It may be useful for the government administration in the Pedabayalu Talk Visakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh, India
