ABOUT POSSIBILITIES OF USING OF BIBLIOMETRIC METHODS IN HISTORICAL AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCHES

Abstract
This article presents a brief review of theoretical approaches to the definition of the term “bibliometrics” and bibliometrical techniques in foreign and national literature; the application of these techniques in historical and scientific researches is analyzed. Using the statistics technique, the technique of publications counting (quantitative method) and citations-index method the author has made the research in history of the development of the tendencies and the work of the organizational and program committees of the International Crimean Conference “Microwave & Telecommunication Technology” (CriMiCo) during 1991-2013 given on the example of the participation in the conference of the scientists and specialists from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and other countries. The history of the development of the conference trends was traced in the published conference materials and the reports dedicated to this issue. At the initial stage of the research one has worked out the tables that were filled in by the statistics data while watching the printed conference materials de visu. According to the filled in tables the analysis of each country-member’s contribution into the conference was made (Ukrainian, Russia, Belarus and other countries). The analysis is held in accordance with chronological periods (1991-2000; 2001-2010; 2011-..). For 23 years in the conference materials there were published 6818 reports, the authors of which are the scientists and specialists of 848 universities and enterprises from 46 countries (8 Commonwealth Independent States countries and 38 foreign ones). The conference materials are indexed and abstracted by such respected data bases as Inspec IET (IEE), Thomson ISI, Scopus and other scientometric data bases, are presented in abstract magazines VINITI. The bibliographic guide of the conference materials was published in the digests of 1991-2010-ies. The new facts concerning conferential activity in the field of radio technologies in Crimea have been put into scientific area.
