ACTUAL PROBLEMS OF INSTITUTIONALIZATION* OF CULTURAL SCIENCE

Abstract
The role of cultural studies as a theoretical basis for the mechanisms of the regulation of the sociocultural life of society is constantly increasing. However, the process of institutionalization of this science has not completed yet, which is reflected in its heuristic potential. The specific nature of the object and the subject of culturology, its integrative nature is complicated with attempts to determine its structure and place among other sciences. The article deals with the analysis of the approaches to solve the problems of the scientific status of culturologists, proposed by prominent scholars; author’s own point of view on this issue is been formulated. The trends and perspectives of further systematization of the general complex of cultural knowledge and institutionalization of culturology as a separate scientific branch are also determined.
