Acute normovolemic hemodilution autologous blood collection with two pumps linked automatic equipment and its influence on hemodynamic parameters in laboratory animals

Journal Title: Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion - Year 2023, Vol 36, Issue 4

Abstract

Objective To explore the effect and feasibility of using two pumps linked automatic equipment to collect autologous blood of acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) in improving blood collection speed, accurately controlling the proportion of normovolemic hemodilution and stabilizing the hemodynamics of laboratory animals. Methods Sixteen Bama miniature pigs were monitored and recorded of heart rate and blood pressure as laboratory animal model underwent ANH autologous blood collection with both the methods of manual mode and automatic equipment mode. The blood collection speed, total amount of hemodilution solution and accuracy of normovolemic proportion control of the two methods were compared. The changes of hemodynamic parameters before and after ANH blood collection were observed and compared between the two methods. Results In the manual group, the blood collection speed was (10-26.7) g/min, with an average of (16.0±5.6) g/min, and the amount of hemodilution solution was (260-550) g, with an average of (385.4±76.2) g; in the automatic equipment group, the average blood collection speed was (40.4±0.6) g/min, which was significantly faster(P<0.05), and the collection time was (10-10.2) min, with an average of (10.1±0.0) min, which was significantly shorter (P<0.05), and the amount of hemodilution solution was (392-414)g, with an average of (405.9±6.1) g. There were significant changes in heart rate, from (111.6±9.6) bpm to (116.0±10.6) bpm and systolic artery pressure (SAP) from(98.9±8.3) mmHg to(92.9±8.4)mmHg before and after the manual ANH blood collection, but mean artery pressure (MAP) and diastolic artery pressure (DAP) did not change significantly. There were no significant changes in hemodynamic parameters in the automatic equipment group before and after the autologous blood collection. Conclusion It is safe and feasible for ANH with two pumps linked automatic equipment, which has advantages over manual method in terms of blood collection speed, control of normovolemic hemodilution proportion and stability of hemodynamic parameters.
