Acute Rhinosinusitis in Children in the Practice of General Practitioners and Rational Antibiotic Treatment in its Bacterial Origin

Journal Title: Здоров`я дитини - Year 2013, Vol 6, Issue 49

Abstract

In order to determine the precise diagnostic criteria of bacterial origin for acute lesions of the nose and paranasal sinuses in children and the rationale for prescribing antibiotics to improve the effectiveness of treatment by general practitioners and pediatricians on the first and second stages of medical care the authors have analyzed a number of literary sources. It is found that, in accordance with the 2012 EPOS guidelines amoxicillin without the addition of beta- lactamase inhibitors is no longer considered as an effective drug for the treatment of acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, treatment is recommended to start with administration of amoxicillin/clavulanate in mean therapeutic doses. We also concluded that the domestic approach to etiotropic treatment of acute bacterial rhinosinusitis in children is close to the international guidelines, but there is still the need to update national guidelines.
