Adaptation of the Authentcity Scale and the mediator role of spirituality in the relationship between authenticity and happiness

Abstract
Authenticity is a prominent concept in positive psychology studies during the recent years. The aim of this study is twofold: The first one is to examine the psychometric features of the Authenticity Scale. Second one is to examine the mediator role of spirituality relationship between authenticity and happiness. The Authenticity Scale, Spiritual Orientation Scale, Oxford Happiness Questionnaire and Personal Information Form were used to collect data for this study. In line with the first aim, the structure tested on university students (N = 315) was examined by using confirmatory factor analysis technique and the cultural validity of the suggested four factor structure was introduced. Regarding the second aim, a model was formed to test the mediator role of spirituality in the relationship between authenticity and happiness. It was found that spirituality has a partial mediator role. Based on the findings from the research, the results were evaluated based on positive psychology and within the context of research and practices in mental health with cultural aspects.
