Adiponectin in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Normal Body Weight
Journal Title: Міжнародний ендокринологічний журнал - Year 2015, Vol 1, Issue 65
Abstract
It was found that in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with normal body weight, average level of adiponectin (AN) in the blood plasma, in contrast to patients with overweight and obesity, is within reference range. At the same time, about half of them (54.5 %) had reduced AN level. The subgroup with decreased AN level differs by greater age of patients and duration of diabetes, as well as elevated levels of triglycerides and very low density lipoproteins, more frequent increase in waist circumference. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and normal body weight we didn’t detect significant correlations between AH level and carbohydrate metabolism parameters — blood glucose and fasting insulin levels, index HOMA-IR. The findings show the necessity to promptly identify and correct lipid metabolism disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with normal body weight.
