AESTHETICALLY-ENTERTAINING FUNCTION ON TELEVISION: EXPERIENCE OF FOREIGN TELEVISION PROJECTS IN THE UKRAINIAN MEDIA MARKET

Abstract
Television is the media that reaches out to the largest audience. Entertaining programs, among others, play a very powerful role in political and cultural education of viewers and can influence their opinions. That is why the entertaining content holds the largest segment in the media market today. The research includes conclusions based on our comparative analysis of international and local TV shows reached through such methods as Description: to classify the viewings and define their type by the system behind them; Juxtaposition: to see what is common among them and what is left out to be distinctive stand-alone features; Structure Analysis: to reveal the complex network of elements with their specific functions that comprise whole picture. Comparison of esthetic values in relation to entertainment impact displayed in the foreign shows helped us to discover new definitions for high-quality shows and attributes of potentially detrimental instances for the Ukrainian entertainment industry.
