Age And Sex Variation in Occurrence of Colorectal Cancer in Guntur

Abstract

Introduction: Cancer is a disease characterized by the unchecked division and survival of abnormal cells. When this type of abnormal growth occurs in the colon or rectum, it is called colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a formidable health problem worldwide¹. It is the third most common cancer in men (663000 cases, 10.0% of all cancer cases and the second most common in women (571000cases, 9.4% of all cancer cases². Methods: Medical records of histologically proven colorectal cancer patients registered at hospitals of Guntur from January2012 to December 2016, a period of 4 years were analyzed. Guntur is the medical hub for Guntur district, Krishna district, Prakasam district, Khammam district and Nalgonda districts .Information regarding age, sex, clinical presentation, anatomical site, histopathological type, stage of the disease and including metastasis, treatment modalities were recorded. Results: There are 137 cases were identified during the study period. All the cases are conformed histologically and statistically analyzed. No significant differences in the male and female cases were observed
