Agriculture Subsector Advantages and Economic Structures in the region of West Nusa Tenggara Province

Abstract

This research aims to know [1] the agricultural sector contribution to the GDRP of West Nusa Tenggara Province; [2] in which district/city has the dominant contributions in the agricultural sector; [3] Agricultural subsector plays a role as a leading sector; [4] subsector which affecting economic growth for subsectors of agriculture and [5] typology growth of economic subsectors in the selected districts/cities in the West Nusa Tenggara province. Analysis of this research is using a descriptive method, then the data analysis is using Location Quotient, Dynamic Location Quotient, Shift-Share, and Klassen Typology. The results show that the agricultural sector is the highest contribution sector to the West Nusa Tenggara GDRP. The district that has the highest contribution in the agricultural sector to West Nusa Tenggara GDRP is Bima. Based on the Location Quotient analysis, forestry and logging along with fisheries subsectors are a basic subsector and the agricultural subsector* is nonbasic subsector. In addition, based on Dynamic Location Quotient analysis, there are subsectors repositions; forestry and logging along with fisheries subsectors which are firstly becoming the basic subsector turned into a nonbasic sector. There are changing position. Meanwhile, the agricultural subsector * which is firstly becoming a nonbasic subsector turned into a basic subsector position. Moreover, based on Shift-Share Analysis, agricultural subsector* has a dominant performance and influence in the agricultural sector than the fisheries and agriculture subsector* have grown well in Bima. Lastly, based on Klassen Typology analysis, forestry and logging along with fisheries subsectors are categorized into the primary subsectors and agriculture subsector* is a potential subsector.
