Albumen does not work: what alternative hypothesis for Starling’s capillary-interstitial transfer is there? The hydrodynamics of the porous orifice tube
Journal Title: Journal of Surgical Research and Therapeutics - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
The news article and systematic review of randomised controlled trials analysing the results of colloids versus crystalloids use in resuscitating the critically ill patients [BMJ 2004;328:852] is informative. The respected members of Cochrane Injuries Group Albumin Reviewers concluded: “There is no evidence that albumin administration reduces mortality in critically ill patients with hypovolaemia, burns, or hypoalbuminaemia and a strong suggestion that it may increase mortality”. I urge this group and all concerned not only to “urgently review the use of plasma proteins in resuscitating the critically ill patients” but also to investigate the scientific basis on which it was advocated in the first place. The documented evidence supporting these issues and implications are highlighted here

Тhe influence of patient gender, systemic disease of connective tissue and neoplastic disease on the occurrence of dehiscence laparotomy
Dehiscence of laparotomy is a disorder of healing of the wound and can manifest in a different degree. This is one of the most significant complications of laparotomy with partial or complete opening or tearing laparotom...
Is there a superiority of pulsatile perfusion versus non-pulsatile perfusion in the preservation of renal functions in cardiac surgery?
In many studies, the efficacy of pulsatile flow during cardiopulmonary bypass has been investigated and controversial results have emerged. In general studies, pulsatile perfusion has been shown to be effective in reduci...
Cystosufflation to prevent bladder injury during Single Incision Laparoscopic Management of an Incisional Ventral Hernia
Background: Scarless/single-incision laparoscopy is becoming popular but still face much criticism. The technique aims to reduce the risk of trocar-induced organ injury in the patient with previous abdominal surgery. We...
