“Alfaletrar” Project in the Municipal education system in Lagoa Santa – MG: central issues

Abstract

This paper presents a summary and results of the “Alfaletrar” Project, which has been developed in the Municipal Education System in Lagoa Santa – Minas Gerais State since 2007. This project is based on the following principles: continuity, integration, systematization and follow-up. To develop the project, Progression Targets (Portuguese) were defined, from the Pre-school to the 5th year of elementary school, as well as diagnosis strategies, intervention and teachers’ professional development. The results revealed significant advances in the learners’ learning process, as well as in the Ideb (Brazilian Education Quality Index) indices and external evaluations.
