Abstract
The article deals with the issue of the update of allusive proper names in the modern fi ctional discourse. The functional and semantic features of allusive proper names are determined. Proper names are examined as a polyvalent component of the image formation, and as the means of decoding the sense structure of a text. The analysis of a semantic transformation process of the names and their stylistic value is performed.<br/><br/>
