Abstract
Background: The alleged murder of daughter by media tycoon mother with suppression of fact for three years revealed and widely circulated in media in last few weeks. Almost every leading print and electronic media highlighted and broadcasted the news in prime time. Methods: The narration of the event with media reports and introspection in the realm of psychological and forensic aspects has been made. The chronological events with drawing of family tree have been done in attempt to simplify the complex intra-familial relationship. The defense mechanisms and psychological perspectives behind this suspected murder case has been explored. Results: The separation from biological father in early childhood and lack of proper attachment with mother figure may have caused unresolved Oedipus complex. With transition from adolescence to adulthood the hatred to mother with multiple relationships get intensified. The alleged murder and the predisposing and precipitating factors can only be predicted as the investigation is still under progress. Conclusions: Every day the mystery of the case is being unfolded with extraordinary media hype. The irresistible curiosity of human mind to find the newer angle of this alleged murder story and cut-throat competition between the media made this case to reach in a new height. In the twist of the tail of this event while drafting the report the commissioner of police of Mumbai get transferred which further ignited more media attention.
