ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF PRESCHOOL EDUCATION. OPPORTUNITIES AND THREATS TO THE CHILD WITH CHRONIC DISEASE
Journal Title: Szkoła Specjalna - Year 2009, Vol 2009, Issue 5
Abstract
A lot of changes took place in Poland in the 20 century and at the beginning of the 21st century, an example of which is Poland becoming a member of the European Union. Due to this fact, providing all children with preschool educa-tion became a necessity, but also a challenge to the state authorities. To date, very few children have attended preschool settings where they could do early academic tasks, especially in rural areas and in small towns. Pedagogists have emphasized the importance of education for young chil-dren and their future since time immemorial. In order to meet contemporary educational challenges, which involves providing preschool education for as many children as possible, the Polish government decided that alternative forms of preschool education are acceptable, such as preschool playgroups and preschool centers which can be run by natural persons, associations and non-governmental organizations. EU funds and new sanitary regulations facilitate the implementation of these decisions.
