An Analysis of the Functioning and Management of Social Cooperatives – The Competitiveness Aspect in the Local Market

Abstract
There is a strong tendency to establish various social economic entities in the European Union. In Poland, this task is handled by Social Economy Centres, which among others, engage in incubating Social Cooperatives. From the employment perspective, Social Cooperatives help excluded people learn the principles of active job searches, as well as, to raise their level of competencies, skills, and professional qualifications through means like self-employment. Unfortunately, as economic entities, despite their positive initiative, they struggle with many administrative and legal problems, which hinder their establishment and functioning. Only several Social Economy Support Centres are active in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Research has confirmed generally recognizable problems concerning the establishment (incubation) of social cooperatives and their problems related to functioning at a social and economic level.
