An antioxidant activity study on Butea monosperma Leaves extract

Journal Title: Maxene Journal of Chemical Science - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 2

Abstract

The importance of herbs in the management of human ailments cannot be over-emphasized. Medicinal plants are a source of great economic value in the Indian subcontinent. Medicinal plants have been used for centuries as remedies for human diseases because they contain components of therapeutic values. The continued investigation into the secondary plant metabolites for anti-infective agents has gained importance because of the alarming increase in the rate of resistance of pathogenic microorganism to existing antibiotics. Therefore the need develop efficient, safe and inexpensive drugs from plant sources is of great importance. It was proposed, therefore, to study the plant Butea monosperma for its phytochemicals content and biological activity.
