Journal Title: International Journal of Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies (IJIMS) - Year 2014, Vol 1, Issue 10
Abstract
The aim of the present paper is to analyze the salient linguistic features of a well known song of Tagore : o keno churi kore chay. It should be noted that this study is confined only to the poetic aspect of the song ; the musical aspect is excluded. The theme addressed here is the transformation of a girl into a woman with the awakening of love --- a theme that Tagore has developed in some of his short stories. In this song the transition into womanhood and the evolution in the feelings of the poet are suggested implicitly. Our objective is to reconstruct this story by reading between the lines and carrying out an in depth study of the constituent elements of the song at various levels : lexical, morpho-syntactic and semantic.
