AN INFLUENCE OF SUPPORT WIDTH ON THE SHEAR CAPACITY OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS
Journal Title: Structure and Environment - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
This paper presents an influence of width changes of the supports used during the study of reinforced concrete beams on the value of angle θ – the angle of compressed concrete struts. This value is referred to as angle βr – the angle of diagonal cracks. The comparison was made based on the test results of 6 beams, including four with a rectangular cross-section and two T-beams. A significant correlation was shown between the width of the support and the change of the θ angle. These changes also affected the theoretical shear load capacity calculated by the standards based on the truss model and the experimental shear load capacity of the beams, independently of the beams cross-sections.
