Abstract

For more than two millennia İstanbul has served as a strategic point uniting East and West. Recently, this great city hosted the 20th WONCA (World Organization of National Colleges, Academies and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/ Family Physicians) EuropeConference in which Family Medicine Doctors from different parts of the world came together with each other. The 20th WONCA Europe Conference had three parts: 1) the exchange programs, 2) the Vasco da Gama Movement (VdGM) Preconference 2015 İstanbul and 3) the WONCA Europe 2015 Conference. The first portion consisted of exchange activities starting on 17th October with arrival of the participants to the three locations. Similar to the preconference, this was the first ever WONCA Conference where all seven Young Doctors Movement (YDM) leads attended. In addition to meeting with WONCA key leaders on behalf of all trainees and junior GPs, these leaders performed a YDM Grand Session with worldwide social media participation via the hashtag #youngwonca. The seven YDM Leaders and WONCA World YDM Representative discussed theirideas with all those who attended in person and online. This conference had its place in minds with innovative ideas with the active roles of young doctors in every step.
