AN INTRODUCTION TO DSmT - Second part
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2011, Vol 56, Issue 3
Abstract
The management and combination of uncertain, imprecise, fuzzy and even paradoxical or highly conflicting sources of information has always been, and still remains today, of primal importance for the development of reliable modern information systems involving artificial reasoning. In this introduction, we present a survey of our recent theory of plausible and paradoxical reasoning, known as Dezert-Smarandache Theory (DSmT), developed for dealing with imprecise, uncertain and conflicting sources of information. We focus our presentation on the foundations of DSmT and on its most important rules of combination, rather than on browsing specific applications of DSmT available in literature. Several simple examples are given throughout this presentation to show the efficiency and the generality of this new theory.

DEFORMATION BEHAVIOR OF A MAGNESIUM ALLOY SHEET WITH RANDOM CRYSTALLOGRAPHIC ORIENTATIONS UNDER VARIOUS LOADING PATHS
This paper reports deformation behavior under various loading paths at room temperature of a magnesium alloy sheet with random crystallographic orientations both experimentally and numerically. The flow stress under unia...
NEW APPROACHES ON MODULAR WALKING ROBOTS WITH FORCE-POSITION HYBRID CONTROL
The paper presents the fundamental and applicative research regarding the elaboration of new concepts and new approaches on modular walking robots force-position hybrid control by developing and experimenting with a mult...
SYNTHESIS, STABILITY, AND BANDGAP CONTROL FOR TWO-DIMENSIONAL SUPERLATTICES
This article constitutes a brief review of recent results related to the experimental realization of one-dimensional interfaces between two-dimensional (2D) materials, along with their mechanical and electronic propertie...
MECHANICAL WORK REDUCTION DURING MANIPULATION TASKS OF A PLANAR 3-DOF MANIPULATOR
The problem addressed in this paper concerns a planar 3-DOF manipulator operating in horizontal plane, that must move from an initial position characterized by angles θ1(0), θ2(0) and θ3(0) to a required final position c...
A FREE WAKE METHOD FOR VERTICAL-AXIS WIND TURBINE PERFORMANCE PREDICTION
Based on the lifting line theory and a free vortex wake model, a method including dynamic stall effects is presented for predicting the performance of a three-dimensional vertical-axis wind turbine. A vortex model is use...
