One of the major factors influencing children’s gaining desired behaviors and their development as healthy individuals is parental disciplinary practices. The purpose of this study is to investigate preschool children’s’ behaviors in relation to their mothers’ disciplinary practices and to some of the demographic characteristics. The mothers and their 48-72 months-old children attending to a preschool education program within the Yenimahalle district in Ankara composed the population of the study. The data collected via the Information Collection Form, the Parenting Scale, and the Behavior Rating Scale were analyzed using t-test, the Kruskal Wallis H test and the Mann Whitney U test. A relationship is found between the mothers’ disciplinary practices and the children’s behaviors. In addition, a relation is found between the children’s behavior and the child’s gender, the number of children in the family, the person taking care of the child, the family’s monthly income in average, the parents’ education level, and the mothers’ work.
