An investigation on antimicrobial activity of endemic <i>origanum solymicum</i> and origanum bilgeri from Turkey

Abstract

The methanol extracts obtained from endemic [i]Origanum solymicum[/i] P. H. Davis and [i]Origanum bilgeri[/i] P. H. Davis have been investigated for their antimicrobial activity. Antimicrobial activity was determined Escherichia coli ATCC 11230, [i]Stapylococcus aureus[/i] ATCC 6538P, [i]Klebsiella pneumoniae[/i] UC57, [i]Pseudomonas aeruginosa[/i] ATCC 27853, Proteus vulgaris ATCC 8427, [i]Bacillus cereus[/i] ATCC 7064, [i]Mycobacterium smegmatis[/i] CCM 2067, [i]Listeria monocytogenes[/i] ATCC 15313, [i]Micrococcus luteus[/i] CCM 169, [i]Candida albicans[/i] ATCC 10231, [i]Rhodotorula rubra
