An Object-Oriented Smartphone Application for Structural Finite Element Analysis
Journal Title: International Journal of Advanced Computer Science & Applications - Year 2014, Vol 5, Issue 7
Abstract
Smartphones are becoming increasingly ubiquitous both in general society and the workplace. Recent increases in mobile processing power have shown the current generation of smartphones has equivalent processing power to a supercomputer from the early 1990s. Many industries have abandoned desktop computing and are now entirely reliant on mobile devices. Given these facts it is logical that smartphones are considered as the next platform for finite element analysis (FEA). This paper presents an architecture for a smartphone FEA application using object-oriented programming. A MVC design pattern is adopted and a demonstration FEA application for the Android smartphone platform is presented.

Intelligent Scheduling of Bag-of-Tasks Applications in the Cloud
The need of efficient provision resources in cloud computing is imperative in meeting the performance requirements. The design of any resource allocation algorithm is dependent on the type of workload. BoT (Bag-of-Task...
Using Brain Imaging to Gauge Difficulties in Processing Ambiguous Text by Non-native Speakers
Processing ambiguous text is an ever challenging problem for humans. In this study, we investigate how native-Arabic speakers face problems in processing their non-native English language text which involves ambiguity. A...
Image segmentation by adaptive distance based on EM algorithm
This paper introduces a Bayesian image segmentation algorithm based on finite mixtures. An EM algorithm is developed to estimate parameters of the Gaussian mixtures. The finite mixture is a flexible and powerful pr...
Smart Smoking Area based on Fuzzy Decision Tree Algorithm
Cigarette smoke is very dangerous for both active and passive smokers who smoke inside a room because nicotine from cigarette smoke can stick on the wall or in the furniture and produce carcinogenic substances when react...
Universal Simplest possible PLC using Personal Computer
Need of industrial automation and control is not closed yet. PLC, the programmable logic controller as available in 2009 with all standardized possible features, discussed here concisely. This work on PLC gives a simples...
