An Orwellian perspective on attempts to improve communication: From Basic English to semantic web

Abstract

The interest shown by George Orwell in Basic English, which he approved, and then sentenced, must be seen in the long history of the rationalization of communication. A story that is ongoing by the rise of semantic web, including developments that can generate, just as much, enthusiasm or criticism.
