AN OUTLINE OF THE METHODOLOGY OF THE FORMER MINING EXCAVATIONS IDENTIFICATION, SO CALLED “KOPANKI” IN THE AREA OF IWONICZ-ZDRÓJ HEALTH RESORT
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2011, Vol 446, Issue 446
Abstract
Mining works connected with prospecting for oil within the area of Iwonicz-Zdrój started in 1860, in the form of mine wells, so called “kopanki”. The key document, which keeps a record of mine wells distribution, constitutes an old greaseproof document including cadastral plots containing the localization of points of excavations. It was treated as a basis for outlining 14 research points of this study. The coordinates of research points were outlined using satellite geodetic measurement techniques, whereas the initial depth identification within the area of outlined points – using the Ground Penetrating Radar (georadar) method. In order to determine the geographic coordinates as well as the rectangular research points, a Trimble R6 satellite receiver was employed. Topographic and height surveys were performed in the area significantly diversified in terms of its morphology, as well as covered with dense, high vegetation. The applied measurement method allowed to obtain coordinates of the research points with the mean error of situational position 1.03 m, as well as with the mean error of altitude position 1.62 m. The obtained accuracy of situational and altitude positions fulfils the accuracy requirements included in the outlines of the project, and is justified by the subject of the study as well as by its aim.
