ANALYSE DE LA PERFORMANCE D’UN DISSIPATEUR D’ÉNERGIE DE TYPE AUGE

Abstract
The stability of a roller bucket spillway can be assessed on the basis of the study of the hydrodynamic efforts, in term of pressure and pressure fluctuations, downstream the spillway. The tests results conducted on a scale model with two different types of bed, solid horizontal and erodible bed, have shown that hydrodynamic efforts are dependent of the flow turbulence, geometrical characteristics of the spillway, expressed by the height of the bucket lip, and the shape of the bed. Besides that, scour gives a reduced efforts reflecting a stable flow. Although the solicitations of the bed are attenuated by the scour, a spillway with a very small height of the bucket lip always gives a (A, I) type distribution reflecting a nonsecure distribution. In Addition, it induces an important erosion at the foot of the structure. A spillway with a medium bucket lip height presents a higher stability only when the flow turbulence is weak, condition not guaranteed during floods. However, a spillway with large values of the height of the bucket lip seems to present a better stability. The later, do not only favours a more stable flow (a (B, II) type distribution) in the vicinity of the spillway but also generates a deposit to protect the foundations of the spillway and increase its stability.
