ANALYSIS OF FACTORS CONTROLLING INORGANIC CARBON AND ORGANIC CARBON CONTENTS IN GROUNDWATER WITHIN AREA OF ORGANIC MATTER OCCURRENCE – POŻARY RESERVE (KAMPINOS NATIONAL PARK)

Abstract
The site of the study is located within the Pożary research station of the Kampinos National Park. The aim of this study was to identify factors controlling inorganic carbon and organic carbon contents in groundwater. The results showed, that oxidation of organic matter was the most important process affecting the carbon contents in groundwater. More of carbon originated from the decomposition of organic matter, than from the dissolution of carbonate minerals. The contribution of atmospheric CO2 to total carbon composition is negligible within the analysed aquifer.
