Analysis of the chemical equilibrium of combustion at constant volume
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2014, Vol 6, Issue 1
Abstract
Determining the composition of a mixture of combustion gases at a given temperature is based on chemical equilibrium, when the equilibrium constants are calculated on the assumption of constant pressure and temperature. In this paper, an analysis of changes occurring when combustion takes place at constant volume is presented, deriving a specific formula of the equilibrium constant. The simple reaction of carbon combustion in pure oxygen in both cases (constant pressure and constant volume) is next considered as example of application, observing the changes occurring in the composition of the combustion gases depending on temperature.

Near Optimal Explicit Guidance Law with Impact Angle Constraints for a Hypersonic Re-entry Vehicle
Two guidance laws are discussed in this paper. The first one is the Vector guidance law. This guidance law when equipped with the appropriate gains has the capability to hit a target at the desired impact angle. A parame...
Boundary Vorticity Dynamics at Very Large Reynolds Numbers
During the last century, the theoretical investigations in the boundary vorticity dynamics were based on the concept of a fluid of small-constant viscosity, i.e. the Newtonian fluid, described by the non-slip condition a...
New Urban Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Design
This paper develops a different approach for enhancing the performance of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines for the use in the urban or rural environment and remote isolated residential areas. Recently the vertical axis wind t...
Earth – Mars Similarity Criteria for Martian Vehicles
In order to select the most efficient kind of a martian exploring vehicle, the similarity criteria are deduced from the equilibrium movement in the terrestrial and martian conditions. Different invariants have been obtai...
PIO I-II tendencies. Part 2. Improving the pilot modeling
The study is conceived in two parts and aims to get some contributions to the problem of PIO aircraft susceptibility analysis. Part I, previously published in this journal, highlighted the main steps of deriving a comple...
