Abstract

The article deals with the history of creation and development of the Anatomical theatre of University of St. Vladimir as significant educational and research institution, on the basis of which the scientists from several chairs made a number of discoveries of world importance in the second half of XIX — beginning of XX century. Preconditions of an institution’s foundation, the main stages of its development and changes in the functional purpose are presented.
