Android Application to Assess Smartphone Accelerometers and Bluetooth for Real-Time Control
Journal Title: International Journal of Advanced Computer Science & Applications - Year 2015, Vol 6, Issue 3
Abstract
Modern smart phones have evolved into sophisticated embedded systems, incorporating hardware and software features that make the devices potentially useful for real-time control operations. An object-oriented Android application was developed to quantify the performance of the smartphone’s on-board linear accelerometers and bluetooth wireless module with a view to potentially transmitting accelerometer data wirelessly between bluetooth-enabled devices. A portable bluetooth library was developed which runs the bluetooth functionality of the application as an independent background service. The performance of bluetooth was tested by pinging data between 2 smartphones, measuring round-trip-time and round-trip-time variation (jitter) against variations in data size, transmission distance and sources of interference. The accelerometers were tested for sampling frequency and sampling frequency jitter.

Modelling and Implementation of Proactive Risk Management in e-Learning Projects: A Step Towards Enhancing Quality of e-Learning
The introduction of e-Learning to higher education institutions has been evolving drastically. However, the quality of e-Learning becomes a central issue in order to provide all stakeholders with the necessary confidence...
Sea Lion Optimization Algorithm
This paper suggests a new nature inspired metaheuristic optimization algorithm which is called Sea Lion Optimization (SLnO) algorithm. The SLnO algorithm imitates the hunting behavior of sea lions in nature. Moreover, it...
Modeling Mechanical and Electrical Uncertain Systems using Functions of Robust Control MATLAB Toolbox®3
Uncertainty is inherent property of all real life control systems, and this is due to that there is nothing constant practically; all parameters are going to change under some environmental circumstances, therefore contr...
Selection of Important Sets by using K-Skyband Query for Sets
In this paper, we consider “sets” selection problem from a database. In conventional selection problem, which is “objects” selection problem, the skyline query has been utilized, since it can retrieve a set of important...
An Efficient Fault Tolerance Technique for Through-Silicon-Vias in 3-D ICs
Three-dimensional integrated circuits (3D-ICs) based on Through-Silicon-Vias (TSVs) interconnection technology appeared as a viable solution to overcome problems of cost, reliability, yield and stacking area. In order to...
