Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2015, Vol 8, Issue 40

Abstract

Corvée labour (angary) and forced labour have been in existence since ancient times under different forms. This problematic area, is still an important topic in the agenda of today’s globalized world. While legal regulations are being amended, methods are still sought for fighting these types of labour force use. This paper intends to highlight both socio-historical and legal aspects of the mentioned concepts. In light of national and international legislation and high court decisions this paper critiques the current discussions with regard to corvée and forced labour.
